How to Find a Good Lawyer
Part 2 Of 3Assessing Potential Lawyers
- 1Review the site from a lawyer. You may be able to remove one or two lawyers from your list by doing this. Some things to review include:
- Professionalism. Most of the lawyers do not design and organize their own sites and may not even write the contents of the site directly. However, one of the premises of a good lawyer is his income, and a high-income lawyer will usually have a more professional website, so the site does not look tacky.
- Information about lawyers or law firms. Almost all lawyers or law firm sites will have a page or section "about us". Read the information given on the site for qualifications from lawyers. Of course all lawyers have state permission, but not all lawyers take the same school, have the same degree, or have the same background. Read about each lawyer and find out what kind of person the lawyer is.
- Awards and clubs. There are several awards and clubs that may be written on the site of a lawyer. This may include AV Ratings on the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory or membership in the Million Dollar Advocate Forum .
- Information about the legal part you like. What information is provided about the legal part that the lawyer practices? Is he someone special in his field?
- 2Check reviews from internet. See what the client is saying at this moment as well as his former client regarding the remaining lawyer on your list. While some bad considerations should be accepted, many bad considerations from former clients who complain about the same may be something to consider.
- List clients or client's considerations.Lawyers representing the top 500 companies may do a good job, but for most situations, you do not need a lawyer at a cost of Rp10,000,000 per hour. Check each site of the lawyer for a list of local businesses that he represents, as well as the consideration or official statement of the client.
- 3Talk to friends and family. Ask friends and family members about the remaining lawyers on your list. Even those who have not hired a lawyer may know one or two of them and can give you a reference of their character.
